Google Corporation proposed to head of the Federation Council task group for constitutional right for privacy protection Ruslan Gattarov to hold a meeting with Google Vice-President for Southern and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa Carlo d’Asaro Biondo, who is in charge of strategic development of Google business. The appropriate address has been sent to Gattarov from the Russian office of the Google Corporation. The company proposes to discuss the claims, which the Federation Council has made to Google. Gattarov recalled that the Federation Council has already invited Google representatives so that they will answer the questions, which aroused after the statements by former CIA agent Edward Snowden over Google’s transfer of the personal data of people, including Russian citizens, to the U.S. security services. “However, they did not come for a meeting. Probably, they understood now that they are wrong and are ready for a constructive cooperation with the Federation Council in the creation of new instruments for the protection of personal data of people,” the senator noted. Gattarov has earlier voiced the suspicions over possible violations of Russian legislation in the user agreement of the company and has made appropriate requests in the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, the Russian telecommunications watchdog and the Federal Taxation Service.
