Ramallah - WAM
Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah Thursday signed an $80 million agreement with Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen to support the implementation of the quadrennial National Policy Agenda.
Hamdallah, who received Samuelsen at his Ramallah office, briefed the Danish minister on the latest political and economic developments, including the deteriorating health condition of Palestinian prisoners who have been on a hunger strike in Israeli prisons for 32 days, according to PalestInian news agency, WAFA.
He urged Samuelsen to put pressure on Israel to respect hunger strikers’ basic rights and respond to their fair demands that are in line with international conventions.
He particularly referred to hunger strikers’ right to bimonthly family visits, the right to receive appropriate medical care and treatment, and the right to pursue higher education.
Hamdallah reaffirmed the Palestinian leadership’s commitment to the two-state solution and peace process, indicating that Israeli violations of settlement construction and fragmentation of the territorial congruity Palestinian territories undermine the two-state solution.
He thanked Denmark for its support to Palestinian institutions and sectors, primarily the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA.
