Oil tanker

Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish said Armada Kraken, a giant oil tanker, paid fees amounted to 4.5 million dollars (81 million pounds) to transit the Suez Canal waterway.

In a statement released on Sunday, Mamish added these fees are the highest in the history of the canal since its inauguration 147 years ago.

The canal administration has taken all necessary measures to ensure the highest standards of safety during the giant oil tanker transit coming from Singapore on its way to England.
