German experts will participate in the Internet summit in Jeddah as Germany is interested in being a partner in the Kingdom’s development of Vision 2030, with an exchange of the latest technology and education, said newly arrived German Consul General Holger Ziegeler.
Ziegeler also said that Kingdom is one of Germany’s strongest partners in the region, not only due to oil, but also other industries that are very important. The Saudi government tries to invest heavily in infrastructure and future services for the population, and German companies are ready to contribute to this economic development.
Ziegeler was expressing his feelings on the occasion of German national day celebrations at his residence on Sunday. The German national day is celebrated as the Day of German Unity.
Zigeler said the Day of German Unity happened 20 years ago, when East and West Germany came together with the demolition of the Berlin Wall. He said Germany set out to show the world that problems that seem unsolvable can be easily solved when people come together, speak about it, and say “we want peace together.”
Education is the foundation of all development, and the German government is planning to open a cultural institute for language training for Saudis in order to familiarize them with the European economic and cultural giant, focusing on fostering exchanges of students, especially giving facilities to the Saudi students, so when they go to Germany they can easily adjust.
“The most important part of the collaboration is cultural exchange particularly in the field of education; education is something that works more than gold,” he said.
Germany is a country which tries to extend its hand to all nations, to all people, in order to offer the full spectrum of activities, for which the German people are known.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a very important and stable country. The Kingdom’s ruler and government recognize the developmental vision, Vision 2030 which gives society a goal in order to join forces in common development.
"Saudi Arabia and Germany are not only political partners but active in multilateral fields, partners in the economic field; large and small German companies are serving the Kingdom and economy of Germany,” Ziegeler added.
Saudi-German relations are not only excellent at the government level but also at the people-to-people level, and Germany wants to contribute to the stable development of the Kingdom and become a strategic partner in Kingdom’s Vision 2030, he said.
“Germany wants cultural, knowledge, technology, experience and educational exchanges in different fields. The wonderful advantage of Germany is Germany offers different possibilities, and solutions for all types of problems,” he added.
Germany is not only a very politically stable partner which tries to bring countries together but also helps them in solving their problems, working together on the economic and technological front and strengthening the workforce by imparting training.
“We would like to foster education and trade between Saudi Arabia and Germany. The Jeddah Consulate issues more than 16,000 visas to Saudi people and the Riyadh Embassy has done a lot more than this, and over the last year, visas given to Saudis have increased fourfold. Germany loves to have Saudi visitors in Germany,” Ziegeler said.
