Cairo - MENA
The resumption of Egyptian exports of vegetables and fruits, excluding potatoes, to Russia started on October 1, Russian Trade Representative to Egypt Lukashin Fedor said.
The decision was made during talks between an Egyptian delegation that had visited Russia recently with officials of the Russian Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision, Fedor told MENA on Monday.
The two sides agreed on organizing visits for Russian experts to Egypt in October and November to assess the compatibility of Egyptian measures with the agency’s requirements, he said.
The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Russia hit $2.217 billion in the period between January to July against $1.914 billion in the same period of last year according to Russian statistics, expecting it to reach $4 billion by the end of the year, he said.
