Egypt and Norway signed on Monday a cooperation agreement to carry out a project aiming at providing jobs to young people in Qalyubia and Menoufia governorates.

In statements, International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr, who signed "Jobs for Egypt's Young People (DJEP)...Working Together in Qalyubia and Menoufia" deal with Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende, said the project aims at creating appropriate jobs for young people through carrying out a set of programs in the domains of training for employment, productivity increase, innovation, and small and micro small projects.

Norwegian Ambassador here Sten Arne Rosnes and director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) office Peter Van Rooij attended the signing of the deal.

Nasr said the government is committed to providing job opportunities to young people through developing small and medium institutions in order to improve their living standards and help them positively contribute to developing economy and society.

The ministry is keen on providing necessary funds to small and medium projects that represent more than 98% of total companies in Egypt, she added.
