Mauricio Macri, President of Argentina, and his accompanying delegation met with a group of Emirati businessmen yesterday, as part of his official visit to the country.
The meeting, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at the Jumeirah Al Qasr Hotel in Dubai, was attended by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, Mohammed Sharaf, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Economic and Trade Affairs, as well as several senior officials and representatives of Emirati companies and economic institutions.
President Macri praised the UAE’s successful policy, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which enabled it to take an exceptional regional and international position, especially in the economic field.
He highlighted the great social and urban development witnessed by the UAE, and expressed his enthusiasm for encouraging UAE investors to benefit from the investment opportunities available in his country.
He also expressed his country’s ambitions to develop a long-term partnership with the UAE, highlighting the promising opportunities for building mutual bilateral co-operation to benefit both countries.
Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri welcomed President Macri and his delegation, and expressed his appreciation to President Macri for visiting the country, noting Argentina’s agreement to participate in Expo 2020 Dubai.
He highlighted the presence of many opportunities for co-operation and investment between the two countries, while calling for continuing calls and meetings between officials from both sides and seizing promising opportunities in food security and infrastructure, renewable energy, aviation and medical sector projects.
He also asked to discuss all challenges related to strengthening co-operation in the fields of investment and joint commercial exchanges, while stressing the importance of placing an investment protection agreement between the two countries, expecting that this agreement will contribute to increasing Emirati investment projects in the Argentinian market.
Al Mansouri highlighted the presence of promising opportunities to double the size of commercial exchanges between the two countries in some three to four years. He also stressed the importance of continuing calls and meetings between the officials of both sides to raise the pattern of bilateral co-operation.
He then pointed out the UAE’s developed aviation sector, considering it as a promising field of co-operation, with the national carriers considered as special for being among the best international airlines. He also stressed the importance of what it can offer in this area, in light of the strong and documented expertise and skills of UAE aviation companies.
