Fifty-three ships transited the Suez Canal on Wednesday, with a total cargo of about 2.2 million tons.

The south-bound convoy included 24 vessels carrying 839,000 tons, while the north-bound convoy included 29 ships carrying 1.4 million tons, according to a statement issued by the Suez Canal Authority.
