Unidentified men cut 75-cm-long bars of an Alexandria railway line using a welding set, the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) said on Sunday.
In a statement, the railway authority said the train movement on both directions was halted to maintain the safety of trains and passengers.
The security bodies were informed of the incident, it added.
