The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC)

Under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the largest ever Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, ADIPEC, begins tomorrow as international and regional decision makers come together to leverage developments in technology, unconventional resources and international collaboration towards meeting the global energy demand.
The first day of the industry-setting event, which is hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, will commence with a Royal Opening Ceremony, followed by a Ministerial Panel Session on developing in-country value by investing in and developing capable technical professionals.
The conference is organised by DMG Events, and supported by the UAE Ministry of Energy and the Abu Dhabi Chamber. The theme of this year's event is "Challenges and Opportunities for the Next 30 Years".
Decision makers from around the world will be participating in the event, making it an ideal platform for exchanging ideas and reaching agreements that address the ever-growing global demand for energy.
Keynote speaker Dr. Michio Kaku, a physicist and authority on the environment, will present information on the impact of science and technology on energy production, with insights and projections on the ever-growing global energy demand.
Day one will also feature the first of two Executive Plenary Sessions that will highlight the important role of innovation and leadership in making progress in the energy sector. The day will conclude with the announcement of this year's winners of the prestigious ADIPEC Awards, which celebrate excellence in energy and recognises innovation in the Middle East. The ceremony and gala-dinner, hosted by ADNOC, will take place at the Emirates Palace.
ADIPEC 2014 celebrates its 30th anniversary by breaking previous records with the largest conference to date and the greatest number of participating national and international oil companies. Companies representing major market players, including China, the US, and Russia, will be present at this year's event, as well as regional players Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar.
Emerging markets, including Indonesia and India, have also confirmed their participation in ADIPEC for the first time, further establishing the four-day event as a global meeting point where industry leaders can exchange ideas on addressing the world's pressing energy needs.
The ADIPEC 2014 Technical Conference will bring together more than 450 speakers from 111 organisations, with 81 technical sessions, four academic sessions, special IT sessions, as well as three topical breakfasts and luncheons. A dedicated VIP programme geared towards senior industry representatives will spotlight some of the most critical issues in the industry.
The opening day will conclude with the ADIPEC Awards ceremony which have welcomed a record 396 submissions this year, featuring some of the most innovative projects in the region that have been adjudicated by a prestigious committee of 26 industry experts.
