Kuwait Municipality has submitted scheme of the planned South Sabah Al-Ahmad residential district to the Public Authority for Housing Welfare for examination and endorsement.
The mega venture, planned on a 61 square km plot of land, aims to build up to 25,000 residential units.
Ahmad Al-Manfouhi, Kuwait Municipality General Director, said in a statement on Saturday that in his relevant address to the PAHW, noted necessity of abidance by terms of the ministries of utilities and defense as well as coordination with these departments ahead of execution. He indicated that his recommendations tackled final demarcation of the allotted plot of land for the project.
The municipality defines the necessary sections of land for housing schemes, in light of the State third structural plan, encompassed in the Decree Number 255 (2008).
Overall sites, required to be specialized for housing, according to the 2015 plan, amounts to 170 sq km. Up to 340 sq km had already been specified.
South Sabah Al-Ahmad's scheme is crucial for general development of the southern region, specifically located between Sabah Al-Ahmad district and the residential Al-Khairan region.
He added that the scheme aims to render the planned district self-sufficient, with all basic and vital services and utilities, also noting a large number of jobs will be available due to the venture.
Stressing the futuristic outlook, he indicated that course of the planned metro network that passes through the district has been drawn.
