Gaza - WAM
HE Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ambassador Mohammed El Emadi has signed new project contracts worth $12 million.
Ambassador El Emadi said that the signed projects include the construction of 7 residential buildings of the third phase of the HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani Residential City, the launch of the Committee's headquarters project, and the infrastructure project for HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani's Al Amal City.
El Emadi underlined that the State of Qatar has been an honorable model of reconstruction through direct supervision of its projects, which has made these projects at top of other projects.
He added that the situation in Gaza is deteriorating, citing the electricity crisis, salaries cut and other problems threatening the population of the Strip.
He indicated that he proposed many solutions to resolve the electricity crisis in Gaza, but the State of Qatar can do so only with the cooperation of all parties, noting that Doha held several meetings with the United Nations to find solutions to the growing crises in the sector.
The State of Qatar launched a package of projects in 2012 for housing, health and infrastructure sectors in Gaza Strip with a total value of $407 million. It also pledged $1 billion during Gaza reconstruction conference which was held in Egypt two months after the end of the Israeli aggression in 2014.
