Kuwait - KUNA
GCC countries need to set up a joint authority to be charged with sponsoring inventors, aiding them to develop their innovations and make them applicable and useful, a Kuwaiti official says.
Sheikh Nimer Al-Sabah, the assistant undersecretary at the ministry of commerce and industry, told KUNA that he raised this idea during a meeting with the visiting GCC assistant secretary general for economic affairs, Abdullah Al-Shalbi.
Such an authority is necessary for aiding the GCC inventors, developing their works and rendering the devices applicable, he said, adding that his talks with the GCC official also dealt with application of the GCC common legislations related to intellectual property and patents.
The talks with the eminent guest, he added, also dealt with holding training courses, in coordination with WIPO, the World Property Intellectual Organization and the intellectual property training center in Kuwait.
