A Kuwaiti-funded orphanage in Omdurman, Sudan's largest city, was inaugurated by the Kuwait Ambassador Talal Al-Hajeri on Sunday.
The orphanage was financed by two Kuwaiti female benefactors and built under the supervision of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO).
Addressing the opening ceremony, attended by Sudan Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Ahmed Adam and a host of the Omdurman's senior officials, representatives of charity organizations and religious figures, Al-Hajri expressed pride over the Kuwaiti funding of the orphanage.
He stressed Kuwaitis' humanitarian work worldwide which has helped in maintaining their country's contributions as a "prominent humanitarian center." For his part, Adam highlighted Kuwait's humanitarian role, extending aid "everywhere." He thanked the country on behalf of the Sudanese people.
Head of the IICO Sudan office Ahmad Al-Senousi also addressed the ceremony and expressed gratitude to Kuwaiti people for their sustainable support to humanitarian work.
