Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr

Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr discussed with the Head of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish at the ministry's headquarters means of developing ports in the Suez Canal zone to enhance its competitiveness.

The meeting took up also the marketing plan implemented by the SCA in cooperation with the ministry to lure investors.

The SCA coordinates with the private sector to use empty piers in ports to establish number of projects.

The two sides agreed on the importance of providing good services and infrastructure for investors in the Suez Canal area as part of the plan of developing ports.

Nasr underlined that her ministry takes some measures to promote investments in the Suez Canal zone within the framework of the comprehensive investment plan which is currently implemented.

During the get-together, Mamish reviewed a plan for developing six ports in the Suez Canal Zone which includes east and west Port Said harbors besides el Sokhna, el Arish, el Tor and Adabiya ports.

He underscored that the plan includes establishing new piers, developing the loading and unloading processes and applying the electronic system in these harbors.

Mamish further reiterated that there are light, food and electronic industries that can be carried out in Port Said.
