Two French and Spanish battleships Tuesday crossed through the Suez Canal en route to the Somali coasts.
The destroyers are part of the counter piracy task force sent by the European Union to patrol the waters off the Horn of Africa.
The warships headed south from the Red Sea after an 11-hour journey through the canal amid stringent security measures, an official source told MENA.
