A housing minister Ibrahim Suleiman

The South Cairo Criminal Court adjourned to March 24 the trial of former housing minister Ibrahim Suleiman and Chairman of the Sixth of October Company for Agricultural Reclamation and Reconstruction Samir Abdel-Qawi and three officials from the New Urban Communities Authority, all on charges of profiteering and deliberately squandering 28 million pounds in public funds.
The defendants are facing charges of selling land at less than market value in the Green Belt area, which surrounds the new cities of 6th of October and 10th of Ramadan.
The Public Funds Prosecution referred the defendants to trial in May, 2013 after investigations showed that the officials at the New Urban Communities Authority colluded with Abdel-Qawi selling him the land at lower than its official price.
