Chairman of the farmer syndicate Osama el-Gahsh Thursday said the government agreed to buy rice crop from farmers through the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Supply, Bank of Development or the exporting companies at 2050 pounds per ton.
In statements during a meeting of rice committee, el-Gahsh said the participants discussed the ministry of industry and trade's decision on exporting rice and the lands allocated for its cultivation.
He expressed resolve on imposing fines on the farmers who violate the government's decision to limit the cultivation of rice to 1.2 million feddans.
