Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has concluded the third ‘Future Engineer’ Summer Camp, to educate students on engineering and scientific research, and train them to develop robotic projects, automation, smart apps, and software.
As part of the ‘Reading is Positive Energy’ exhibition at Zabeel Park, a ceremony was held marking the graduation of 22 participants, as well as the presentation of certificates and awards to others.
The participants managed to develop robotic projects and handle various inputs and outputs such as infrared sensors, acoustic sensors, DC motors and various integrated circuits. Practical training also helped them develop smart applications and software, in terms of software design and development. They gained many other skills such as the basics of sign language, and ‘sana’, which is the art of dealing with others based on inherited and traditional Emirati values, as well as other skills related to self-development.
"Under the directives of our wise leadership, DEWA organises many initiatives for the younger generation, to prepare them for a brighter and more prosperous future. The two-week summer camp prepares students for a promising career, providing them with technical skills, developing their scientific research spirit, and motivating them to learn science and technology using the basics of robotics and developing smart software and applications. This supports the UAE Vision 2021, which aims to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world, by training the new generations with the spirit of leadership, creativity, responsibility and ambition. This places Emirati students among the top students in the world, in terms of knowledge, reading skills, mathematics, and science, and supports the Dubai Plan 2021, which aims to make Dubai a home for creators, and innovators, filled with pride and happiness," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
Al Tayer expressed his happiness with the great success achieved by the third summer camp, which received a 96 percent happiness rating from students, and expressed his pride in the creative work done by the students, including the robots, software, and smart apps that they managed to upload on Google Play.
Parents expressed their appreciation and happiness for DEWA’s efforts in supporting the future generations.
