Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources, Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa, has met with Customs Affairs Chief, Shaikh Mohammad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, to discuss boosting joint cooperation to facilitate the movement of trade.
Agriculture Undersecretary hailed the security plans and programs overseen by the Customs Affairs aim at facilitating trade movement through Bahrain ports of entry. He underlined the importance of joint cooperation in attaining the desired level of services presented by the two sides.
The parties discussed topics of mutual interest, mainly obstacles facing the agriculture sector in respect of animal and plant shipments in light of the actions required by the law of plant and veterinary quarantine. They agreed on the establishment of an agricultural quarantine and a laboratory to be overseen by Agriculture Ministry to supervise agricultural import.
They also agreed on facilitating import and export shipments in line with the Kyoto Protocol. They stressed the need to strengthening customs control on the ports of entry in implementation of Bahrain's obligation to the GCC Customs Union.
Customs Affairs Chief lauded Agriculture Undersecretary's efforts in bolstering joint cooperation in matters related to agricultural and trade movement.
