The kingdom has made positive steps in upgrading the skills of the national workforce and created more job opportunities for Bahraini job-seekers with the launch of the second phase of the "Employment and Rehabilitation of Bahrainis" project, a key scheme spearheaded by the Labour Ministry to develop Bahraini human resources and provide them with decent work opportunities, in line with the leadership’s development policies and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s far-sighted visions.
A report approved by the Cabinet today, reflected the tangible steps made by the kingdom regarding the labour market’s indicators during the second quarter of this year.
Figures revealed a fall in the unemployment rate from 4% in quarter one to just 3.7%.
It also indicated that 6085 citizens were employed, at a rate of 2028 jobs per month, and that crafts jobs and the production and transportation sectors had the highest rates of employment.
The figures are a proof of the success of the tremendous efforts exerted by the relevant government bodies, in cooperation with the private sector, to provide requirements of decent living for the citizens, the Labour Minister Mohammed Ali Humaidan said.
