Algeria Cristina Amaral

Major goals have been achieved in Algeria in various sectors, said Sunday in Algiers United Nations Resident Coordinator in Algeria Cristina Amaral.
"Algeria, a fully committed country with the required economic and human resources for its development, has already achieved major goals in different fields," said Amaral.
In a statement to the press on the occasion of the celebration of the United Nations Day in Algeria, the UN Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Algeria underlined that "the strengthening of South-South Cooperation Platform for the internationalization of the positive experience of Algeria, especially in the sectors of health and education, is among the targeted objectives for the future."
"This experience can be a model for other countries," she said, adding that "Algeria has done a lot for its neighbours and for Africa, and we hope that this cooperation would be highlighted to the rest of the world."
Dubbing the partnership between Algeria and the United Nations "fruitful," Amaral said that UNDP is working in Algeria with the Government and the institutions and seeks to broaden partnership to the civil society.
For this year, the UN agency intends to support the projects launched in Algeria as part of the five-year development plan for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals for sustainable development.
The United Nations Day is observed this year in Algeria under the slogan "Algeria and the UN, a mutual enrichment."
