Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe on Wednesday named reputed hardline justice minister Emmerson Mnangagwa as his vice president, putting him in pole position to succeed the ageing leader.
He announced the appointment at party headquarters to loud applause, following the sacking this week of one-time presidential hopeful turned rival Joice Mujuru as vice president.
