US President Barack Obama marked the 50th anniversary of the Selma civil rights march on Saturday by condemning new attempts to restrict voting rights and demanding their protection be renewed.
"Right now, in 2015, 50 years after Selma, there are laws across this country designed to make it harder for people to vote," he said, speaking in front of the bridge where the march was brutally repressed.
