Opposition conservative Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic was on track to become Croatia's first female president after taking the lead in a tight runoff vote on Sunday, partial official results showed.
Grabar-Kitarovic, a top diplomat belonging to the main opposition HDZ party, won 50.44 percent of the vote, results based on 80 percent of the votes counted showed.
Her rival, centre-left incumbent Ivo Josipovic, garnered 49.56 percent of the vote, according to the results released by the electoral commission.
