Egypt\'s armed forces said Monday that \"armed terrorists\" had tried to storm the headquarters of the elite Republican Guard, leaving one security officer dead, in a statement quoted by the website of state-owned daily Al-Ahram. \"At dawn, an armed terrorist group tried to storm the Republican Guard (building)..., attacking army troops and police, which led to the death of one officer and left several conscripts injured, including six in critical condition,\" the statement said. The Muslim Brotherhood, which had been protesting outside the Republican Guard HQ said 16 Islamist protesters had been shot dead.
