The 26th Bahrain International Music Festival

The 26th Bahrain International Music Festival will conclude on Saturday with two events at the Dar Al-Muharraq.
The first will be a lecture by Vice-President of Bahrain Writers Association, Dr. Rashed Najem Al-Najem, entitled “Fayy Al-Barayeh”. It will present an examination of the dialectic of time and space in modern Bahraini songs.

Held at 07:00 pm, the lecture will highlight the meanings of time and place in the modern Bahraini song and how they became time capsules of bygone times and places due to various development factors.

The word “fayy” means “shade”, while the word “barayeh” (plural of baraha) are large open spaces where people gather.

The second, due to start at 08:00 pm, will be a “Fuijari” musical show. The performance highlights the various styles of the uniquely Bahraini Fujairi tradition, a mystical genre whose roots go back to Bahrain’s world-famous pearling heritage.

Fans of Bahraini music will be treated to the different variations of this traditional art such as Bahri, Hadadi, and Makhloufi.

Admissions to the two events will be free
