A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale hit Banda Sea, Indonesia tonight, according to Bernama News Agency.
The Meteorological Department said the quake at 7.45pm occurred about 411 km southwest of Ambon, Indonesia and 1,697 km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.
The quake, however, posed no tsunami threat, it said on its website.
