Shanghai - XINHUA
Shanghai is bracing for Typhoon Nakri as it moves from waters southwest of Taiwan into the East China Sea.
According to the municipal flood control headquarters, Nakri, moving at a speed of 20 to 25 km per hour, will enter the waters of the East China Sea on Thursday night.
The typhoon will pass waters near Shanghai from Friday night to Saturday morning, which will cause rainstorms in parts of the city, said the headquarters.
It ordered ships to return to ports, early relocation of fishermen and safety examinations of construction sites and high-rise buildings in the city.
East China's Zhejiang Province will also be hit by gusts and heavy rain brought about by the typhoon on Thursday night and Friday.
The provincial flood control headquarters has started an emergency response mechanism, asking flood control headquarters of all levels to track the typhoon and implement defense measures.
