Judge Amr Abdel Raziq, former Chairperson of State Security Court, said that he faced four attempts of assassination from the Muslim Brotherhood, saying that the judges should perform a major role eliminate the extremism. He stressed the need for cooperation between the different institutions of the country to keep the people away from the extremist ideas.
He blamed the current criminal law, stressing the need for amending it during the coming period to be more active in confronting the extremism. He called Egypt’s House of Representatives for issuing a new legislation allowing the judges of prompt settlement of cases.
He added that the judicial authorities will reveal the sources to finance the extremist organizations immediately after ending the current investigations conducted by the authorities with over 1500 persons accused of receiving illegal finance.
He stressed that the state security authority is one of the major authorities in the Interior Ministry authorized to protect the security of the country from the threats posed by the extremist organizations or political groups that could harm the interests of the country. He blamed the extremists of attempting to smear the image of this authority due to its important role to protect the country.
He described the extremism as the disease which needs to be eliminated, calling the Egyptian people for supporting the governmental efforts to eliminate the extremism. He also called the media channels and newspapers for working to spread the spirit of optimism among the Egyptian people.
He added that the judges demanded the Egyptian authorities to allocate security guards for the judges, saying that they face serious threats from the Muslim Brotherhood. He signaled to the judges who have been assassinated during the recent years, saying that such attempts reflect the strength of Egypt’s judiciary. He added that the attempts to assassinate the judges came to terrorize them.
He signaled that the Interior Ministry suffers from a state of imbalance, blaming the extremists for attempting to smear the image of the security forces before the Egyptian people in the framework of their attempts to destabilize the country.
