Doha - Arab Today
Qatari Jassim Mohamed Al Muraikhi won HH the Emir Cup when he defeated South Africa's Francois Louw, 505-473, in their final match at Qatar Bowling Center in Doha.
Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, president of the Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) and Kuwait Bowling Federation (KBF), crowned the winners of the tournament. Al Muraikhi won the cup, the gold medal and $10,000 prize, while the silver medal and $6,000 went to the second place.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah said that bowling is witnessing a great development in the Gulf region and Qatar in particular due to the great support given to it.
Al Muraikhi's claim of the title of this big tournament, which is one of the best tournaments at the international level, indicates that Qatar Bowling is undergoing a remarkable development in the Gulf region, especially in light of the great developments taking place in the game in Asia, a continent that its national teams' players occupy advanced places in international rankings.
Talking about the first meeting of the Executive Office of the ABF that was held today in Doha on the sidelines of the tournament, the president of the Asian Bowling Federation said the meeting was fruitful and discussed many issues, including sponsoring tournaments organized by the ABF, adding that the meeting decided to unify the sponsorship of the Asian championships to become under a certified sponsor by the ABF.
This, he said, will be binding on all participants in the Asian tournaments especially in announcing the logo of each national team where the announcement of the logo will be by the ABF and not the national federations. Today's meeting discussed the formation of the assisting committees to the ABF in its new session, the ABF president added.
