Ljubljana, Slovenia - Arab Today
The Slovenian federation says its leader, Aleksander Ceferin, will enter the UEFA presidential contest. The federation says Ceferin confirmed his intentions after a regional meeting of 14 UEFA member federations in Moscow.
The 55 UEFA members will elect a president to replace Michel Platini on Sept. 14 in Athens.
Ceferin, a 48-year-old lawyer, has led the Slovenian federation for five years and is a member of FIFA's disciplinary committee.
He follows UEFA vice president Michael van Praag of the Netherlands in launching a campaign.
UEFA and FIFA vice president Angel Maria Villar of Spain is another expected entry by the July 20 deadline.
The winner will complete Platini's presidential term, which ends in 2019.
