Paul Stastny scored during a three-goal first period and tallied again in the second Wednesday, lifting the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-1 win over Los Angeles. The Avalanche swept their four meetings with the Kings this season and extended the current Los Angeles losing streak to four games. It is the first time Colorado has won every meeting with the Kings since the franchise moved from Quebec to Denver in 1995. Stastny, Mark Olver and Jay McClement all scored in the opening period and Stastny added his 16th of the season midway through the middle stanza. Semyon Varlamov had his shutout bid wiped out by Dustin Brown 4:35 into the third. Varlamov made 32 saves. Jonathan Quick was removed from goal after giving up three goals on 11 shots in the first period. Jonathan Bernier made 15 saves the rest of the way.
