Did you know there's a World Cup for indoor cricket?

It's the top international championship of indoor cricket for both men and women and it's hape[ening in the neck of our woods here.

Organised by the World Indoor Cricket Federation (WICF), it is held every two or three years and the first Indoor Cricket World Cup contest was held in England in 1995.

Pretty much like their dominance in the world of men's cricket (and the women's to an extent!), Australia remain the most successful side in this format too, having won every world title in both men's and women's categories to date.

This year it's being held in Dubai where it opened to a packed Saturday crowd at the newly renovated Insportz club on September 16.

UAE women played their English counterparts in the first match of the eight-day tournament but couldn't get the better of them in the end

The rules of the game are different from actual cricket and teams are made up of only eight players.
