India were 234-8 in their second innings at tea on the fourth day of the final Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Monday, an overall lead of 345 runs.
Rohit Sharma made 50 and Stuart Binny scored 49 after the tourists, who had gained a first innings lead of 111, resumed on their overnight score of 21-3.
The series is locked at 1-1 after Sri Lanka won the opening Test in Galle by 63 runs and India drew level with a 278-run victory in the second match at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo.
