Gulf Craft, the Ajman-based boat builders, outclassed Jazzville, 116-105, in the Class B-C category of the 4th Pinoy Big Brother League at the Dubai Club for Special Sports last weekend. Seeking their fourth win on the trot, Gulf Craft opened the game with an 8-2 run and ended the first quarter on top by six points, 29-23, a media release said. “I am happy that my key players stepped up and struck hard when needed most by the team,” Gulf Craft coach Rolan Carpi said. Wingmen Rommel Caberte and Harvey Depra initiated a 10-3 run at the start of second quarter to give Gulf Craft their biggest lead at 13 points, 39-26. Jazzville, however, refused to be bullied and answered with an 11-0 spurt to slash the deficit to just two points, 39-37, in the middle of the second period but Gulf Craft immediately recovered with a 16-9 run to stay on top, 55-46, before intermission. Both teams exchanged leads in the third with Jazzville relying on the explosive performance of veteran player Nonoy Sayon to give them the lead for first time in the middle of the third quarter at 65-63. Later during the week, World Security shackled X-Doria Mobile Covers, 83-59, in the Class C Division at the Dubai Karate Club in Jumeirah. World Security dominated the match from the start. They posted a 17-14 margin after the first quarter and turned it into a double-digit lead, 41-27, before the half-time break. Missing their point guard, X-Doria were not able to rotate the ball properly and could not score on transition while World Security tightened their defense and lorded over the boards in the third quarter.
