Multiplex International and One Stop Tourism registered contrasting victories in the Sharjah Summer Cup 2017 organised by Sharjah Cricket Club.
At the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Multiplex International edged past Emirates Warriors by just 14 runs while One Stop Tourism ousted Globelink Weststar by six wickets.
Asked to bat first Multiplex International posted an impressive 174 for six in 20 overs. Balwinder Singh laid the foundation with a perfect half century from just 24 deliveries consisting of five boundaries and three sixes while Waqas Raja (23, 13b, 2x4, 1x6), Abdul Shakoor (22, 28b) and Haroon Ahmed (28 not out, 28b, 2x6) all made significant contributions.
For Emirates Warriors, Nasir Aziz claimed three wickets.
Chasing a challenging total, Emirates Warriors made a significant start with openers Farhan Babar and Abdul Hafeez sharing 58 runs for the first wicket. Farhan Babar scored a 25-ball 30 with the help of four boundaries and as many sixes while Abdul Hafeez smashed 61 off 47 balls including five fours and two sixes.
Fahad Tariq also chipped in with a 23-ball 36 supported by a boundary and three sixes before Emriates Warriors lost steam. Wickets fell at regular interval as Emirates Warriors managed 160 for eight in 20 overs.
For the winners it was Saad Naseem who was the star bowler claiming four wickets in his four overs that also earned him the man of the match award.
In the other match, chasing 167 to win, One Stop Tourism comfortably overhauled the target in the 15th over.
Muhammad Usman was the man who made the difference hammering a 22-ball 42 sending the ball to the ropes once and over it on five occasions.
Fahad Ansari provided a quick start with a 10-ball 30 peppered with a boundary and four sixes while Rohan Mustafa gave him support with a 15-ball 27.
Muhammad Ikram Jora remained unbeaten till the end scoring 35 from 24 balls while Ayoub Inayat scored 23 not out from 10 deliveries as One Stop Tourism achieved 168 for four in 14.5 overs.
Earlier batting first, Jiju Janardhanan and Renjith Mani provided the start for Globelink Weststar with a 20 and 38 respectively before Laxman Sreekumar further consolidated the innings with a gritty 23.
Puneeth Kumar smashed a 11-ball 27 containing three fours and a six as Globelink Weststar achieved 166 for seven in 20 overs.
Amir Hayat was the bowler to shine for One Stop Tourism with a four-wicket haul.
