Curitiba - Arab Today
The Algerian football team pulled off a historic qualification to the second round of the World Cup 2014, after their draw Thursday against Russia (1-1), half (0-1), at "Baixada Arena" Stadium in Curitiba, as part of the 3rd day of group H.
The goals were scored by Alexander Kokorin (6th) for Russia and Islam Slimani (60) for Algeria.
This is the first qualification of Algeria in the 2nd round in four editions (1982, 1986, 2010 and 2014).
At the end of the day, Belgium, who won against South Korea (1-0), tops Group H with a total of 9 pts, ahead of Algeria (2nd -4 pts), Russia (3rd - 2 pts) and South Korea (4th- 1 pt).
In the round of 16, Algeria will face Germany on Tuesday in Sao Paulo, while Belgium will face, on the same day, the USA in Salvador de Bahia.
