Secretary-General Abdulrahman Askar

Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant Secretary-General and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) Secretary-General Abdulrahman Askar commended the achievement of Bahrain athletes Rose Chelimo and Sawa Eid at the World Athletics Championship in London.

Rose raced to the women’s marathon gold medal, while Salwa clinched the women’s 400m silver medal amidst stiff competition from some of the world’s best athletes in this major international event.

Askar conveyed his congratulations to the kingdom’s leadership on this occasion, and thanked Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.

Askar also congratulated Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first vice-chairman, West Asian Athletics Federation president and Bahrain Athletics Association president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for this achievement.

BOC secretary-general noted that these two remarkable results made a significant impact on Bahrain athletics and adds more responsibilities on the Bahrain Athletics Association to continue their hard work and double their efforts to maintain their athletes’ top form and live up to their aspirations.
