Senegalese frontman Makhete Diop struck a minute from time as Shabab Al Ahli rallied twice to pull off a draw against Al Wasl in the Arabian Gulf Cup on Saturday night.
The Cheetahs had gone ahead at the stroke of half-time through Caio Canedo but Shabab Al Ahli's South Korean import Chang Jin Moon cancelled that out on 69 minutes. Al Wasl retook the lead on 75 minutes through Abdalla Saleh but Diop scored on 89 minutes for a 2-2 stalemate at the Zabeel Stadium.
Al Wasl lead Group B with seven points with two wins and a draw, while Shabab Al Ahli, who are yet to notch a win, are placed fourth with three points. They have drawn all three matches so far.
Elsewhere, at Sharjah's Khalid bin Mohammed Stadium, a late Sebastian Tagliabue goal earned Al Wahda a 1-1 draw against Sharjah.
Vander Viera's cross from the free-kick was headed across the goal by defender Mohamed Jaber and Jamal Maroof was left with a simple tap in from point-blank to put The King ahead at the half-hour mark.
Poor positioning from Sharjah goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani allowed Sebastian Tagliabue to head home Sultan Al Ghafri's long ball to equalise for The Clarets.
The draw keeps the two sides in their respective positions at the foot of the Group B table as they each add a point to their name with two more rounds of action to be played.
