Al Jazira's new striker Uzbekistan's Sardor Rashidov.

Arabian Gulf League champions Al Jazira have announced the signing of Uzbekistan international Sardor Rashidov.

The 26-year-old striker joins the Pride of Abu Dhabi on a free transfer, the club announced on their official twitter handle on Sunday night.

"Al Jazira Football Club has completed the registration procedures of Sardor Rashidov. He joins the club on a free transfer," the club said in a tweet.

Rashidov moves from Qatar Stars League club El Jaish, which has now been merged with Lekhwiya.

"I'm happy to join a big team like Al Jazira, who are the champions of the UAE," Rashidov said in Al Jazira's tweet.

The club also posted a picture of Rashidov in the club's colours, saying: "Welcome Sardor Rashidov. Home of Champions. Pride of Abu Dhabi."

Rashidov fills the Asian slot vacated by South Korean midfielder Park Jong-woo.

Rashidov began his career with Sogdiana Jizzakh and moved to FC Bunyodkor after one season. He spent six season with FC Bunyodkor with whom he won the Uzbekistan League thrice in 2010, 2011 and 2013. During his stay, FC Bunyodkor also finished runners-up in the Uzbekistan League in 2012.

Rashidov also won the Uzbekistan Cup three times in 2010, 2012 and 2013 and runners-up finish in 2014. He also won the Uzbekistan Super Cup in 2014 apart from reaching the semifinal of the AFC Champions League in 2012.

Rashidov joined El Jaish in 2015 and scored 22 goals in 41 appearances, with five assists.

He has been capped 40 times by Uzbekistan since making his international debut in 2013 and has scored 12 goals so far.
