The Secretariat-General of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organisation, ARCO, strongly condemned the launch of a long-range ballistic missile by the Houthi-Saleh militia against Makkah, the Place of Revelation and the Qibla of Muslims.
In its statement, the ARCO stressed that this desperate attempt represents a violation of the sanctity of the Holy Capital and the "Messager’s Cradle." It also called for strong legal action against this criminal act, the second in less than a year and during a holy season of the Sacred Months, which attacked the Islamic world and its holy sites.
The Organisation demanded the international community to consider the violation of Islamic holy sites, whether the holy city of Makkah or Jerusalem, as a serious legal matter. It added that any deliberate act or direct attack against any Islamic holy site represents a dangerous turn of events and a violation of international humanitarian law.
It also called on the international community and all regional organisations to hold accountable those responsible for violating the holy sites, based on the principles of international law, which requires punishment for such criminal acts.
The ARCO and its associations also renewed their immovable stance and their total condemnation of any act that targets the Qibla of Muslims or any attacks against places of worship and civilians, regardless of their source.
The Secretariat-General of the ARCO, in its headquarters in Riyadh, praised the efforts of Saudi Arabia and its services to the Islamic holy sites and the two Holy Mosques, out of its faith, duty and responsibility.
