The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, has strongly condemned the terrorist suicide attack on a mosque in the Afghan city of Herat, on 1st August 2017, which killed some 30 people and injured many more.
Expressing his deep shock over the incident, Dr. Othaimeen described the perpetrators of this heinous act against innocent worshippers during prayers as enemies of Islam, Afghanistan and its people. He offered his condolences to the families of the victims, the Government and people of Afghanistan and wished early recovery to the injured. He further urged the concerned Afghan authorities to take all possible actions to bring the perpetrators of these acts to justice.
The Secretary-General, once again, repeated his call for regional and international co-operation in the fight against the scourge of terrorism and violent extremism in order to ensure a safer world.
