Egypt strongly condemns a terrorist attack that targeted the Louvre museum in Paris Friday night.

A man wielding a machete had rushed toward a group of soldiers and guards in the Carrousel du Louvre before a soldier opened fire at him. The attacker was seriously injured by a bullet to the stomach.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry said Saturday that Egypt stands by the government and people of France in the face of terrorism, which is a threat to world security and stability.
