Stella McCartney London - Arabstoday Style queen Stella McCartney scooped a double win last night at the British Fashion Awards. The glitzy event held at London’s Savoy hotel was attended by other fashionistas including Cara Delevingne, who won Model of the Year, and Manolo Blahnik who collected his Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Award (which he dedicated to fashion icon Anna Piaggi). 41 year old UK designer Stella picked up gongs for Designer of the Year and Designer Brand on behalf of her eponymous label. The designer wore a black strapless jumpsuit from her own collection which reflected her usual understated signature style. It’s been a breakthrough year for Stella in which she has designed the Olympic outfits for team GB and enjoyed an Autumn/Winter show in Paris that proved to be a red carpet hit after launching to critical acclaim. The collection instigated some of this seasons’ biggest trends from ‘Regal’ with luxurious, dense fabrics and trompe l’oeil patterns to a turn in ‘Sport-Luxe’ with varsity jackets and slouchy trousers that bagged at the crotch. The look was topped with a zing of electric blue mascara to emphasise Stella’s very modern take on streamlined chic. Other winners on the evening were J.W. Anderson who got the Emerging Talent Award in Ready-To-Wear after his recent line for Topshop and Sophie Hulme who scooped the Emerging Talent Award in Accessories with her exotic skin handbags that are an absolute must-have for the fash-pack.
