Tunisian media host Afifa Boukil revealed that the Tunisian media witnessed notable difference during the current period if compared to the period before her travel to Libya to work with the Libyan Channel. She stressed that the officials of the Tunisian TV welcomed her after her return, while others attempted to keep her away.
She added, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, that she decided to return to the Tunisian TV programs although what heard over the media lobbies that control the Tunisian channels and the media field as whole.
She praised her new experience in Tunisian Zeitona TV channel, saying that the major objective of her new program is to discuss the social issues related to the Tunisian family and to meet the aspirations of Tunisian people. She added that she started working with the channel upon an offer from its owner, expressing appreciation to the media hosts who presented the program before.
She stressed the need for resuming her work as a TV presenter, saying that she will not accept any positions if they forced her to abandon TV presentation. She added that she refused the advice of her husband to abandon this career after her return from Libya, saying that he gave her the advice to protect her from conspiracies that could target her.
She added that she accepted the offer she received from Zeitona as it met all her aspirations, saying that she was aspiring to present a program discussing the issues of women, men and the kitchen. She said that the Tunisian channel adopts the same approach adopted by the Libyan channels in which she worked for years, saying that it supported her for accepting the offer.
She blamed the political developments for directing the Tunisian TV programs, saying that the Tunisian people are forced to view the political talk shows to follow the political developments witnessed in the country. She praised her experience in Libya, saying that she gained the respect of Libyan people during her work there for over six years.
She added that she decided to return to her country under pressure from her family, saying that she currently aspires to return the Tunisian from the political polarization to the programs carrying noble messages serving the Tunisian community as whole. She added that she does not give the priority to the image, saying, “I am not a model, while the important thing is how to gain the respect of fans.”
