Abu Dhabi - Emirates Voice
A man who abducted a child from the street near his home and filmed him while naked has been given 15 years in jail.
The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance handed down the sentence to the Emirati man after he was found guilty of kidnap, indecently assaulting the Arab child and infringing on his privacy.
Official court documents stated that the child, who is below 12, was going to a grocery store in their neighborhood when the defendant stopped at him.
He allegedly spoke with the boy and lured him to his car and then sped away.
The boy then began to scream begging the man to return him to his home but he instead continued to drive.
The boy told authorities that the man then pulled out a knife that was in his car and put it on his neck after he continued screaming.
The boy told prosecutors that the defendant then pulled over in a remote area and ordered him to undress himself.
He then filmed him while naked using his mobile phone. He also threatened to publish the video on social media if he told his family or anyone about the incident.
Public Prosecutor had charged the Emirati with indecently assaulting the child, kidnapping him, restricting his freedom, and using a mobile phone to infringe on his privacy.
The man denied the charges throughout his trial.
He said he doesn't know the boy nor his family and that he has never met him before.
The man also claimed that he had no idea how the video got into his phone.
But court convicted him basing on the evidence presented by prosecutors and the boy's testimony.
The court also ordered for the confiscation of the mobile phone used to shoot the video and told the Emirati to pay a temporary civil compensation to the victim
