The Sharjah Criminal Court, presided by Judge Hussain Al Ousafi, on Thursday charged two Asian men with stealing Dh46,000 and 21 passports from a labour accommodation in the Mysaloon area.
According to court records, the first accused was arrested by the Sharjah Police on April 12 after receiving a complaint, which said the defendant who worked as a guard at the labour accommodation stole a bag containing the money and passports with the help of another man. A cook at the accommodation told the court that he saw the accused entering the room on the day of the theft.
However, both the defendants denied the charges. The first defendant informed the court that there was an earlier dispute between him and the complainant. He told the court that the complainant just wanted to put him in trouble because of the dispute. The second accused told the court that he was not in Sharjah when the incident allegedly occurred.
The court adjourned the hearing to July 17 to hear the testimonies of the witnesses.
