A man used social media to advertise his services as a prostitute, Dubai Criminal Court has heard told.
The 29-year-old Moroccan posted ads on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, along with pictures of naked people and cross-dressers.
In January this year a police officer from the Electronic Crimes Department discovered the man’s posts after spotting a suspicious tweet.
"‘A 25-year-old Moroccan for massage, hair removal and home cleaning services’ said the tweet, but it was posted along with inappropriate pictures of women and men, and there were more than 400 followers for the account so I checked its owner," the lieutenant said.
An undercover police officer posing as a customer contacted the defendant.
"They agreed to have sex for Dh1,200 and when he arrived we arrested him," the lieutenant said.
The Moroccan confessed to having sex with men for money.
"He confessed he had been doing this for a while with more than 300 customers and charged each one between Dh1,000-Dh1,500," said the lieutenant.
The man admitted in court to charges of prostitution, inciting sin and promoting nudity on social media. A verdict is expected on May 21.
