A cleaner who stabbed a woman in the neck rushed to his brother in shock, screaming that he killed a woman and police must come, heard Dubai Criminal Court.
"I didn’t know what happened that minute but I didn’t mean to end her life," said the 32-year-old Filipino defendant, who is charged with premeditated murder.
Prosecutors said that on August 7 he visited his supervisor at her apartment in Jebel Ali to discuss his resignation.
"I wanted her help to convince human resources at work to spare me paying Dh6,000 as a penalty for submitting my resignation," said the defendant.
The Filipina woman he stabbed, who is the supervisor’s niece, opened the apartment door for him and, when he asked her to call for his supervisor, the niece said she was not home.
The man lost his temper then rushed to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and stabbed the woman in her neck following an argument, prosecutors said.
The attacker then went to his brother and sister-in-law at their home and told them that they must call police because he killed someone.
"It was about 5.30pm when he came. He was in shock and screaming that he killed someone and urging me to call police. I went to my wife and told her to call police, which she did," said the defendant’s brother, who added that his sibling kept repeating, "please don’t blame me, I don’t know what I have done".
Police arrived and arrested the defendant.
"We apprehended him then went to the crime scene. The woman was dead on the floor with the knife stuck in her neck," said a policeman.
